LYFE (Lifting Youth and Fostering Entrepreneurship) Camp is an entrepreneurship program created in 2013 by Chinedu Okoro, Sola Lawal and Temitope Isedowo to tackle the problem of unemployment on the continent, starting with Nigeria.
We empower young people to own businesses and create jobs via bootcamps, training, mentorship and funding.
The maiden bootcamp was held in Lagos in 2014, in partnership with Intel Nigeria, Harambe Entrepreneurs Alliance, iDea Nigeria etc. This was followed by a year of working closely with many fellows to pilot their ideas.
Our strategy is to attract high quality entrepreneurs, ventures, and investors to our events by making them free for both attendees and investors. We get the entrepreneurs to apply and accept the most promising ventures so that investors attach high quality to our brand.
Similarly, we only court the highest quality venture capitalists and angel investors to participate in our pitch sessions. We use the insights gleaned from both entrepreneurs and investors during the events to build a platform that helps walk entrepreneurs through the questions they need to ask to understand what type of funding is best for their venture at the current stage, potential investors who might be interested, and they receive legal and financial advice that will be useful to them. We also offer post-event services that includes introductions to appropriate investors, access to mentors, and meeting space in collaboration with tech hubs/co-working spaces.
